Who We Are:

Jess Edmondson is a guitarist/bassist/drummer/banjoist and songwriter/singer from San Francisco, CA.

Jess began his music career at an early age with piano lessons but didn't pick up a guitar until college at UC Berkeley where he minored in Music while majoring in Molecular Biology. Jess was part of many improvisational music groups in college including the Javanese Gamelan Orchestra, Space Cushion, The Teeth, and Doctor Lobster and the Dolphinettes.

Upon graduation Jess became a teacher in the bay area Kindermusic program, and performed extensively with power trio Jackscrew who released an LP in 2004 and still perform in the Bay Area.

Jess also has performed as the experimental guitarist "Birdman" in and around San Francisco, while producing and recording albums for various bay area musicians.

Alyssa Adams Edmondson is a singer/pianist/accordionist/guitarist and songwriter from Newark, Delaware.

Alyssa began her musical training at the age of 6 with piano lessons. At the age of 9 she insisted to her mother that she wanted to perform on stage and soon enrolled at the Wilmington School of Music where she performed in many piano concerts and competitions in and around the Delaware area until she left for college. Alyssa was also involved in Middle School and High School concert, jazz, and marching bands playing drums, piano and xylophone while marching in international competitions from Las Angeles to Toronto to Ireland.

In 1999 she left for Kansas State University to study Architectural Engineering on a Full Rowing Scholarship. With her grandfather's guitar in tow she began writing music as well as collaborating and performing with many musicians in and around campus. She was part of the folk duo “Wild Mountain Honey” and a member of the band “Shark Week”. After graduation the West Coast was calling and she moved to San Francisco to work as an Acoustical and Audiovisual Consultant and soon after fell in love and started playing music with Jess Edmondson and his crew of musician friends in their huge music studio/living space.

In 2004 in San Francisco Alyssa and Jess joined forces with the groups Joiamisora and the Schwamigos and played their blend of Folk, Blues and Latin inspired music around the San Francisco Bay Area. Alyssa and Jess moved to the Puerto Vallarta area in 2005 to start a housing development project outside of Higuera Blanca. They lived together in a tent on the housing site in the jungle for one year during construction all the while playing, writing, and recording music together.

The pair were enamored with the Sayulita music vibe and eventually moved there, starting to perform together as the duo "Alas Polillas". Their first self titled EP was recorded in Bucerias, Nayarit and released in 2006. Late night sessions with local saxophonist Pepe Le Piu led to the formation of "La Shiflana", the Gypsy Jazz Swing Sextet which performed extensively around Banderas Bay in 2008.

In 2008 Jess and Alyssa formed the group Los Tikkilyches playing an eclectic mix of Soul, Blues, Latin, Reggae and Rock. The band recorded and produced their first album “Mejor que Langosta” at the Tikki Studios in Sayulita in 2009 and toured that summer throughout the West Coast of the US. In early 2009 they collaborated with popular Vallarta Saxophonist Oscar Terrazas at Ritmo's Beach Cafe. During the early summer of 2009 they teamed up with "Los Frixoleros" of Bucerias playing traditional Mexican Folk Music.

Currently Jess and Alyssa are on staff at Costa Verde International School teaching music. Jess is on staff teaching music at the Escuela del Mundo in San Pancho, Nayarit. Alyssa is the acting music Director for Celebrate the Beat Mexico, a program offered in public schools where kids experience an immersion in dance, music and visual arts to promote achievement, teamwork and dedication. Jess is a staff musican in Celebrate the Beat as well.
